About the Artist:

Jimi Hendrix

Born November 27, 1942, in Seattle, Washington, USA, to Al Hendrix and Lucille Jeter.
Summer 1959: Received a guitar from his father, Al, and began band activities in earnest.
1961: Enlisted in the Army. Assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, Parachute Regiment. Met Billy Cox, who would later work with him.
1963-65: Worked as a recording and touring member for artists such as The Isley Brothers, Sam Cooke, Little Richard, and Curtis Knight.
September 1966: Met Chas Chandler, bassist of The Animals, in New York, who became Jimi's manager.
He then moved to London at Chandler's suggestion.
October: Formed The Jimi Hendrix Experience with Noel Redding (B) and Mitch Mitchell (Ds).
April 1967: Released debut album "Are You Experienced?".
November 1967: Released 2nd album "Axis: Bold as Love".
September 1968: Released 3rd album "Electric Ladyland".
1970: Released "Band of Gypsys".
Mitch Mitchell (Ds) returned to the band, replacing Buddy Miles.
March: Completed recording of the 4th double album "First Rays of the Rising Sun".
September 18: Died suddenly of a drug overdose at the age of 27, just before the final track-down of the 4th album.
