The American Memorial Park State Quarter is a coin minted by the United
States Mint as part of the 50 State Quarters program. It was released in
2019 and features an image of the Flag Circle and the Court of Honor at
the American Memorial Park in Saipan, with the inscriptions "Northern
Mariana Islands," "American Memorial Park," "E Pluribus Unum," and
"2019."
The design commemorates the sacrifices of American and Marianas
people during the Battle of Saipan in World War II, and honors the
peaceful relationships that exist between the two nations today. The
Flag Circle and Court of Honor are important features of the American
Memorial Park, which was established in 1978 to honor those who fought
and died in the battle. The coin serves as a tribute to the brave men
and women who served in the war and to the lasting partnership between
the United States and the Northern Mariana Islands.
