There is a book plate at the beginning saying it was presented to a school pupil called Emily Elliott (with her name scribbled out by Peggy Booker!), of 'Friends; First Day Schools, The Bedford Institute, Wheeler Street, Spitalfields on 12th January 1901. Illustrated with black and white drawings. The end of the book includes adverts for other books by the publisher.
