Rare Depression-Era George F. Cram 12-Inch Terrestrial Globe (c. 1932–1934)

Up for sale is a beautiful piece of cartographic history: an original 12-inch terrestrial globe manufactured by The George F. Cram Co. of Indianapolis. This is not a modern reproduction, but a genuine antique from the early 1930s.

Historical Significance & Dating Clues:

This globe provides a fascinating snapshot of a world in transition between the World Wars:

Saudi Arabia: Labeled as the "Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," which dates the map to at least September 1932.

Persia: Still uses the name "Persia" rather than "Iran," meaning it was produced before 1935.

USSR: Shows the Transcaucasian S.F.S.R., which was dissolved in 1936.

Condition:

The globe shows authentic character and age. There is significant crazing (surface cracking) and some minor paper loss/foxing as seen in the photos. The varnish has aged to a warm, antique gold patina. The globe rotates freely on its original black metal base.
